Shri. Mhathung Yanthan, Hon'ble MLA & Advisor, Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Nagaland inaugurated the training and Ethnic tuber crops festival. The Special Guest lauded the efforts of ICAR-CTCRI for initiating NEH programme in Wokha district of Nagaland and demanded for sustained efforts for strengthening tuber crops sector in Nagaland.
Dr. G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, delivered Presidential Address (online) who emphasized the importance of tuber crops based agrifood systems and value addition to empower tapioca farmers from subsistence farming to agribusiness and profitable farming.
Shri. Vineet Kumar IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha delivered welcome and introductory remarks.
Directors of Agriculture & Horticulture, Govt. of Nagaland; Officials from ICAR RC for NEH Regional centre, Nagaland; KVK, District Administration, Wokha; CIH, Nagaland and SHGs offered felicitations.
Dr. R. Muthuraj, Dr. D. Jaganathan and Dr. T. Krishnakumar handled different aspects of tapioca cultivation and value addition.
About 200 trainees, officials, entrepreneurs and exhibitors participated and they were given training kits and value added products of tapioca.
