Maize was identified as a suitable companion crop in greater yam. Greater yam + maize intercropping system recorded 36.7% higher tuber equivalent yield than sole greater yam with gross and net return of Rs. 93625/ha and Rs. 38535/ha, respectively. Inclusion of maize as intercrop in greater yam gave additional net return of Rs. 22055/ha.
