Significant Contributions 1. Developed Dwarf palm having compact canopy and suitable for a modified spacing with 161 palms/Ha with yield potential of 33.01 MT/Ha.
2. Commercialized technology for oil palm hybrid seed production and established three new seed gardens –Taraka-II and Kabini in Mysore, Karnataka and Morumpudi in East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, West Zersawl in Mizoram.
3. Identified promising Interspecific Hybrids viz. palm no.2 and 3 for dwarfness and 12, 28, and 34 for multiple traits and developed 4 back crosses
4. Identified 43 Dura mother palms for high yield of 200kg FFB/palm/year and Developed 50 DxD crosses for high yield in oil palm.
5. Supplied basic planting material to new seed gardens at Taraka-II and Kabini in Karnataka and Morumpudi in Andhra Pradesh, West Zersawl in Mizoram and generated 40 lakhs revenue to the institute
